Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the attack on a restaurant in Andigama, Anamaduwa.

The suspects were taken into custody last night (19) at Anamaduwa, said the police.

Reportedly, the suspects had fled from their houses following the attack and have been hiding in a wood in Galkuliya, Andigama.

Police had caught the escaped suspects by secretly following the wife of the main suspect, who had been delivering food for them.

A restaurant in Andigama, Anamaduwa was attacked by a grouped of thugs at around 10 pm on the 18th August stated the Anamaduwa Police.

Investigations have revealed that the reason behind this attack is a previous conflict when leader of the gang had eaten at the hotel without paying.

The said gang leader has claimed that the attack was carried out under the knowledge of a politician in the area. However, the police denied any political connections to the incident.

The attack has been captured by the CCTV cameras of the restaurant.

Two of the arrested suspects have been identified as infamous moonshine (kasippu) traffickers in the area.

One other suspect in connection with the incident is yet to be apprehended and the three suspects are slated to be produced before the Anamaduwa Magistrate’s Court.
