Thirty arrested during special search operation in Matale

Thirty individuals have been arrested under various charges during a 12-hour special search operation carried out within Matale district, centralizing on four police stations.

This special search operation was carried out concurrent to the police operation that is being conducted island-wide under the instructions of Inspector General of Police Pujith Jayasundara.

Accordingly, the suspects have been arrested on charges of possession and trading Cannabis, possession of heroin, illicit liquor racketeering, illegal sand mining, absconding the court, and public intoxication and indecent behavior.

The suspects are to be produced before Dambulla and Naula Magistrate’s Court, according to the Police Officers in Charge (OICs).

Assistant Superintendents of Police stated that this joint mission will be carried out centralizing the Dambulla, Sigiriya, Galewela and Naula police stations over the following two days.
