Kandy SLTB employees launch indefinite strike

September 26, 2018   12:17 pm

The employees of Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) in the Kandy District have commenced an indefinite strike action from today (26), says the Central Province SLTB Joint Trade Union Alliance.

The Convener of the alliance Herath Mudiyanselage Bandara stated that the reason for the strike action is an arbitrary appointment made by the SLTB Chairman.

Although the current SLTB regional operations manager should be appointed to the position vacated by the retiring SLTB regional manager, the SLTB Chairman has appointed an ‘incompetent’ person arbitrarily, according to the Convener of the alliance.

He further stated that they will continue the strike action until the current regional operations manager is appointed to the vacated SLTB regional manager position.
