President Sirisena meets new Maldivian President

Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena has met with the President-elect of Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the first meeting between the two leaders since the latter’s election victory.
They met at the VIP Lounge of the Bandaranaike International Airport this morning (October 10), the President’s Media Division said.
When President returned after completing a state visit to Seychelles today, the Maldivian President was transiting Colombo on his way from Male to Singapore.
New President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the 54-year-old former Opposition leader who belongs to Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), defeated Abdulla Yameen in the 2018 presidential election.
