The Supreme Court has postponed to November 8 the hearing of the appeal filed by the Chief Minister of the Northern Provincial Council, C. V. Vigneswaran.
The appeal was taken up before a three-member judge bench comprising Justices Eva Wanasundera, Prasanna Jayawardena and L.T.B. Dehideniya, earlier today (19).
Due to Supreme Court Judge L.T.B. Dehideniya agreeing to participate in the hearing of the application, considering that was postponed until November 8 by the court.
Last August, the Court of Appeal had issued an interim injunction considering a petition filed by former Northern Province Minister Balasubramaniam Deniswaran stating that his removal by the Chief Minister was illegal.
However, CM Vigneswaran in his appeal sattes out that the said interim injunction is against the law and that the Court of Appeal has no power to issue such order.
Therefore, the Supreme Court was requested by the CM to dissolute the interim injunction issued by the Court of Appeal.
