Petition filed against former CJ Sarath N. Silva

A petition has been filed before the Supreme Court against the former Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva over contempt of court, stated Ada Derana reporter.

Reportedly, Senior Prof Chandraguptha Thenuwara, Prof Hewa Waduge Cyril and Senior Prof Prashantha Gunawardena have filed this petition.

The petitioners have stated that the statement made by the former Chief Justice during a meeting organized by the ‘Jathika Ekamuthuwa’ organization in Maradana, is in contempt of court.

They have further mentioned that the former Chief Justice has made another statement of this sort on October 18.

The petitioners have sought the Supreme Court to launch a complete investigation into this this regard and penalize former Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva accordingly.
