Minor tremor felt in several areas

A minor earth tremor has been experienced in Badulla, Hali-Ela, Welimada, Kandeketiya and Passara areas this morning (16), the Disaster Management Center (DMC) said.

According to reports the minor tremor was felt between 8.15 and 8.30 a.m. today in the aforementioned areas, Badulla District DMC Assistant Director E.M.L. Udayakumara said.

He stated that there have been no reports of any casualties or a disaster situation at any location as a result of this minor tremor.

He also said that the public should not have any unnecessary fears regarding minor tremors.
