Rumours on countrywide lockdown completely baseless – DIG Rohana

April 4, 2020   06:19 pm

Wide-spread rumours of a complete lockdown in the country are entirely baseless, says DIG Ajith Rohana.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is investigating the rumours, he stated, speaking at the media briefing of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19.

DIG Rohana noted that official press releases on curfew and COVID-19 outbreak are issued by the President’s Media Division (PMD) and on certain occasions, by the Police, Army, Defence Ministry, Department of Government Information, as well as the Health Ministry.

Hence, he urged the general public not to be deceived by false, unverified statements circulated in social media.
