Two fresh cases push coronavirus case count to 1,630

Two fresh cases of coronavirus cases reported a short while ago moved the total count of COVID-19 cases in the country to 1,630.
The new cases have been identified among recent foreign arrivals, confirmed the Ministry of Health.
Previously today (31), 08 other individuals – one Sri Lanka Navy personnel and 7 foreign arrivals –were confirmed to have contracted the virus.
Accordingly, a total of 10 new COVID-19 cases have been identified within the day so far.
Meanwhile, twenty patients who had been receiving treatment for the virus were discharged from their respective hospitals today (31) hiking the tally of recoveries in the country to 801.
A total of 817 active cases are under medical care at selected hospitals across the island, according to the Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry.
Sri Lanka reported its 10th COVID-19 death on May 25 as a 51-year-old woman who had arrived in the country from Kuwait succumbed to the disease.
