Covid-19: Two more cases confirmed from Navy, tally reaches 1,633

Two fresh cases of coronavirus have been confirmed as of 11.00 pm today (31), as the total count of infections in the country moved up to 1,633.

These new patients have been identified as naval personnel, the Ministry of Health said.

Earlier today (31), 11 other individuals – 2 from Sri Lanka Navy and 9 returnees from overseas –were confirmed to have contracted the virus.

Accordingly, a total of 13 new COVID-19 cases have been detected so far within the day.

Meanwhile, twenty patients who had been receiving treatment for the virus were discharged from their respective hospitals today (31) as the tally of recoveries in the country reached 801.

A total of 822 active cases are under medical care at selected hospitals across the island, according to the Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry.

Sri Lanka reported its 10th COVID-19 death on May 25 as a 51-year-old woman who had arrived in the country from Kuwait succumbed to the disease.
