71 Army officers receive promotions

Another group of Army officers has received promotions to the next rank with effect from the 15th of June 2020, says the Spokesperson of Sri Lanka Army.
Accordingly, 41 Colonels have been elevated to the rank of Brigadiers while 30 Lieutenant Colonels were promoted to the rank of Colonel.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa promoted these officers on the recommendations of Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva.
During the past 6 months, Sri Lanka Army has obtained promotions for 29 officers (Brigadier to Major General), 51 officers (Colonel to Brigadier), 95 officers (Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel), and 138 officers (Major to Lieutenant Colonel).
Similarly, 14,617 other ranks of the Regular Force of the Army and 1,785 other ranks of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force have been so far promoted to their next ranks in the past few months.
