Lasith Malinga, who has not played since his ankle surgery last September, has begun bowling and will likely feature in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup.

Malinga underwent arthroscopic surgery in Australia last year, and there were doubts this week of his ability take part in the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand next month.

“Lasith started bowling few days ago,” Mahela Jayawardene tweeted today, providing a much-needed update on Malinga to end days of speculation.

“So far all good. Will make sure he is 100% before we play him. But I am confident he will be ready for WC!”
