IND beat SL by 278 runs

Off-spinner R Ashwin took 5 wickets as India were just 1 wicket away from clinching a series-levelling victory against Sri Lanka on the 5th day of the 2nd Test here today. Soon after the lunch break, India won by 278 runs.
Sri Lanka, chasing 413, were tottering at 130/9 in 42.3 overs when rain stopped play and early lunch was taken. India started the day with a wicket off the first ball from Umesh Yadav and continued to strike at regular intervals.
Ashwin was the wrecker-in-chief of Sri Lanka innings. He had figures of 5/42 in 16 overs while Amit Mishra took 2 to put India on way to victory. The hosts had commenced the day at 72/2. India lost the first Test in Galle by 63 runs. The third and final Test starts on August 28 at Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC).
