France led 2-1 at half-time through a Antoine Griezmann penalty in the 38th minute awarded through a VAR decision which came as a result off a Ivan Perisic handball in the FIFA World Cup 2018 final at the Luzhiniki Stadium in Moscow.

The initial goal from France was struck in the 18th minute through a set-piece well-directed by Griezmann from the 30-yard mark which took a deflection of Mario Mandzukic to end in the far corner away from the reach of Danijel Subasic. Croatia, kept the ball better but failed to control the French side on the break.

However, Ivan Perisic scored the lone goal for Croatia in the 18th minute through a screamer from the edge of the box which was way out of reach of Hugo Lloris. At the end of half-time Croatia had the superior possession but the scoreline told a different story.
