We performed because of our coach – Kusal Janith

Sri Lanka’s middle-order batsman Kusal Janith Perera scored a brilliant unbeaten century to lead them to a famous one-wicket win over South Africa in a thrilling first Test at Kingsmead on Saturday (16).

A video of Kusal Janith and the team members commenting on the win is currently circulating in social media. In the video, the winning team is discussing the win following the historic match along with the team staff and coach.

Kusal Janith Perera says that they performed at the match despite many issues faced by the team. According to him, the support of their Coach is the main reason behind their performance. He says that he was feeling angry, but he performed because of the Coach.

Perera further says that his message should reach the Cricket Board through the managers.

Also commenting, Suranga Lakmal affirmed Kusal Perera’s thoughts by appreciating the Coach’s efforts. He says that there had been many justices against the team. The pressure was even worse for the Coach, yet he never let this pressure reach the players, Lakmal said.

Lakmal, further speaking, requested the team hold on to this unity within the team and face the next match despite their performance.
