Sri Lankan T20 Captain Dinesh Chandimal has opted not to play in the today’s T20 World Cup semi-final against West Indies, the Team Manager stated. Lasith Malinga will captain the team in his place.

Chanidmal served a one match ban in Sri Lanka’s final group game against New Zealand for a slow over rate in the previous game. Malinga captained Sri Lanka to a memorable win to take Sri Lanka to the semi finals of the tournament.

Chandimal has struggled for form in the tournament which has drawn criticism from several quarters.
