Protest rally against Batticaloa Campus…

The Inter-University Student Federation (IUSF) today (09) staged a protest rally urging the government to abolish the Batticaloa Campus Private Limited immediately.
The Police had fired tear gas and water cannons at the protesting students to disperse the crowds when they attempted to charge towards the Temple Trees at the Kollupitiya Junction disregarding the barriers.
The protest rally was commenced at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura this afternoon.
The Galle Road from Kollupitiya to Galle Face was also closed temporarily owing to the protest as it had caused heavy traffic congestion.
Meanwhile, the downpours in Nugegoda area hindered the proceedings of the protest rally for nearly an hour.
