Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha election on October 26

The election of the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha is scheduled to be held on October 26, according to the Returning Officer of the Galle District. 

 

The deadline for the handing over of nominations for the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha ended at 12 noon today (12) while time was given until 1.30 p.m. to submit objections.

 

Accordingly, a total of 09 registered political parties and 02 independent groups had handed in nominations. 

 

The following parties had presented nominations:

 

1. Janasetha Peramuna
2. Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna
3. Samagi Jana Balawegaya
4. Podujana Eksath Peramuna
5. People’s United Freedom Alliance
6. Sri Lanka Communist Party
7. National People’s Power
8. Jathika Janatha Pakshaya
9. Dewana Parapura Party

 

The nominations for the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha in the 2024 Local Government Elections were accepted from September 09 to September 12. 

 

A total of 10 recognized political parties and 02 independent groups had placed deposits for the election, however out of them only 09 recognized political parties and 2 independent groups had submitted their nomination papers today (12).

 

Of those, the nomination papers of 08 recognized political parties and an independent group were accepted, according to Galle District Secretary W. A. Dharmasiri.
