Police seek public assistance to identify deceased persons in separate cases

Sri Lanka Police is seeking public assistance to identify two deceased individuals related to two separate incidents in Homagama and Kegalle areas.

With regard to the first case, Homagama Police had received a complaint on October 01 regarding the discovery of an unidentified body. The facts related to the deceased was reported to the Homagama Magistrate’s Court, and a magisterial inquiry was conducted. The body was then placed in the Homagama Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

According to police, the identity of the deceased has yet to be confirmed. They estimate the individual to be approximately 5 feet and 2 inches tall with an average build. However, the condition of the body has made identification difficult, police said.

Accordingly, any information regarding the relevant deceased person are requested to be provided through the following contact numbers:

  1. OIC, Homagama Police Station: 0718 591 655
  2. Homagama Police Station: 0112 855 222

In a separate incident, police are also requesting the public help to identify another individual who died in a road accident on October 04.

The accident had occurred in the Molagoda area near the 83km post on the Colombo-Kandy main road, within the Kegalle police division.

The pedestrian was struck while crossing the road and succumbed to his injuries after being admitted to Kegalle Hospital.

The body is currently being held in the Kegalle Hospital mortuary, and police have yet to confirm the individual’s identity.
