Miss England withdraws from Miss World 2025

Miss England Milla Magee from Newquay has been forced to withdraw from the Miss World competition for ‘personal health reasons,’ writes Adam Dutton from SWNS.

The 24-year-old lifeguard dropped out half way through the glitzy beauty pageant, which started in Hyderabad, India on May 7 and is due to finish next weekend.

Milla has since flown back home to Newquay with Miss England organisers only citing “personal reasons” for her departure.

In a statement, Angie Beasley, director of Miss England, said: “We regret to announce that Milla Magee has returned home to the UK due to personal reasons.

“We stand fully by her decision – health must always come first.”

The Miss World final was due to conclude next Saturday (31/5) and Milla had already competed in several rounds against women from 112 countries.

Angie added: “Milla has shown tremendous dedication over the past year to her role as Miss England particularly through her Miss World Beauty with a Purpose project, ‘Go Far with CPR’ which she had hoped to showcase next week.

“We, alongside the Miss World Organisation, are incredibly proud of what she has accomplished and we will continue to highlight her project throughout her reign as Miss England.”

Ahead of travelling to India, Milla had said: “As I leave for Telangana, India to take part in the 72nd miss world my heart is full of gratitude, pride, and quiet strength.

“To wear the sash of England is more than a title — it’s a symbol of the people, the stories, and the spirit I carry with me.

“It is the honour of a lifetime to walk among women from every corner of our beautiful world, each of us bringing with us not only our dreams, but the hopes of those who have believed in us.”

She had been updating her progress to followers on social media and said yesterday (Sun) “One of the greatest gifts of this journey has been the amazing friendships made with incredible women from around the world.”

The nation’s hopes of winning Miss World for the first time since 1983 now lie with Charlotte Grant, 25, who was the runner-up in Miss England 24.

The reigning Miss Liverpool has now been invited to represent England in the Miss World final.
