Five dead, 12 missing after earth slip in Minipe

Five people have been confirmed dead and 12 others have been reported missing following an earth slip in the Pamunupura area of Minipe, Hasalaka, the Kandy District Secretary announced.

Search operations are currently underway to locate the missing individuals, he said.

Meanwhile, a row of residences in the Dedugala area of Bulathkohupitiya, Kegalle, has been struck by a landslide.

Kegalle District Secretary J.M. Herath stated that five houses have been affected, and the residents of those homes are reported missing.

He added that access to the site has been severely hampered, making rescue efforts difficult.
