Four sentenced to death over three long-running murder cases

The Nuwara Eliya High Court has sentenced four suspects to death in connection with three separate protracted murder cases.

The sentences were pronounced today (02) by High Court Judge Viraj Weerasuriya, Ada Derana reporter said.

Accordingly, a 47-year-old accused was found guilty and sentenced to death in relation to a murder that occurred in 1998 within the Nanu Oya Police Division.

In a separate case dating to 2009, a 55-year-old man was convicted of the murder of his mother, wife, and child in Pattipola and was also sentenced to death, Ada Derana reporter said.

Meanwhile, two men, aged 64 and 62, were sentenced to death for their involvement in a killing in Bogawantalawa in 1990, where the victim was attacked and killed with a sharp weapon.
