Wanasundara appointed new AG

Solicitor General S. Eva Wanasundara has been appointed as the new Attorney General by President Mahinda Rajapaksa a short while ago, the Government Info. Dept. stated. With the appointment Wanasundara becomes the first female AG in Sri Lanka.


Sworn in as an Attorney-at-Law in 1977, Mrs. Wanasundara became a State Counsel in 1979. In addition she assumed her office as the first woman Senior State Counsel in 1992 and also the first woman Additional Solicitor General in 2005.
