Special train service during Vesak

A special train service will be implemented during the Vesak days, the Railways Department stated. The service will be implemented during May 5, 6 and 7 while its operations will be from Colombo Fort to Anuradhapura, Kandy, Aluthgama and Kalutara.

 

The Sri Lanka Railways Operating Superintendent, L.A.R. Ratnayake stated that the special service will begin at 8.30 am in Colombo Fort and arrive at Anuradhapura at 12.15pm while it will once against leave Anuradhapura at 7pm and arrive in Colombo at 10.50pm.

 

Furthermore, he told Ada Derana that steps are being taken to add extra compartments to the long distance trains.
