
Chief Minister of Central Province, Sarath Ekanayake has been issued summons to appear before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court on January 22, 2013 over a complaint filed by the Bribery Commission.
The Colombo Chief Magistrate Rashmi Singappuli issued the order today after considering a complaint filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption, Ada Derana reporter said.
Meanwhile the Chairman of the Kalutara Pradeshiya Sabha and office aide Indika Priyashantha, who are charged with accepting a bribe of Rs. 3 million, were further remanded by the Colombo Chief Magistrate today.
Officials of the Bribery Commission had requested that their bail plea be rejected, citing alleged threatening and intimidations of witnesses by them while in remand custody.
