Gamini Jayawickrama resigns as UNP Chairman

UNP MP Gamini Jayawickrama Perera has resigned from the post of United National Party (UNP) Chairman at the working committee meeting today, UNP Spokesman MP Gayantha Karunathilake said.

The reasons behind the former Cabinet Minister and Kurunegala District Parliamentarian’s sudden decision is yet to disclosed.

Meanwhile the UNP working committee today decided to form a Supreme Council, to continue to carryout the party’s operations and to ensure victory at future elections.
