Major General Ubaya Medawala has been appointed as the new Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Major General Channa Gunathilaka has been appointed as his Deputy with effect from November 1, the Defence Ministry said today.
Medawala was the Military Adviser to Sri Lanka mission to the United Nations in New York. He was also Sri Lankan Army’s Security Force Commander (Central & West) and former Military Spokesman.
