CID arrests Sarath Kumara Gunaratne

Former Deputy Minister Sarath Kumara Gunaratne has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Monday.


Gunaratne was arrested after a statement was obtained from him on the alleged misappropriation of funds of the Negombo lagoon development project, an official said.


The Colombo Additional Magistrate had also issued a warrant for his arrest earlier. The former Deputy Minister will be produced before the Court today.
