Gotabaya responds to allegations regarding Kotelawala medical faculty

February 21, 2017   01:23 pm

The decision to build the Faculty of Medicine at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University was taken following an advice from Prof. Carlo Fonseka, former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa said.

He expressed this view while speaking at an event held in Colombo.

“Some may raise accusations saying I forcefully established the faculty. But then Prof. Carlo Fonseka would be able to answer to those allegations against me, because it was him and other professors who gave instructions to establish the institute,” he said.

“There was a shortage of doctors in the army. That shortage still exists. Our goal was to find a solution for this problem by establishing a new medical faculty,” Rajapaksa said.
