The constitution of Sri Lanka must be amended for plans to be implemented for the progress of the country, Minister of Sports, Dayasiri Jayasekara says.

He also stated that the new constitution of Sri Lanka would give due prominence to Buddhism.

Dayasiri Jayasekara stated that decision-making processes would have been more efficient and more successful if the country was being governed by one party and one leader. Consequently, he stated that joint endeavours of the two leading parties were a hindrance to the progress of the country.

Meanwhile, in relation to the SAITM issue, the Minister expressed his stance by stating that SAITM must be closed down after those currently enrolled at SAITM were rendered justice, and elaborated by stating that the high quality of the medical service in particular must be preserved.

The Sports Minister stated this upon attending a public gathering in the Kurunegala district.
