The term of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to Investigate and Inquire into Serious Acts of Fraud, Corruption and Abuse of Power, State Resources and Privileges (PRECIFAC) has been extended by 2 months with effect from September 03.
As the Official term of the Presidential Commission came to an end on September 03, officials of the Commission requested a further 6 month time period from President Maithripala Sirisena, to clear all the cases that are currently under investigation.
The Presidential Commission was established to investigate serious Acts of Fraud and Corruption committed by government officials during the tenure of the Rajapaksa regime. The Commission has reported that over 2000 complaints were lodged to the Commission after its establishment.
