Clergy should go on ‘pinda patha’ to raise funds for Weeratunga and Palpita – Ven Abayathissa thero

Ven.Medagoda Abayathissa thero stated that the act of going on ‘pinda patha’ to collect funds to liberate Lalith Weeratunga and Anusha Palpita is not something that should be frowned upon by the Buddhist clergy. 

Speaking to the media at a press briefing yesterday (14), Ven.Medagoda Abayathissa thero stated that several monks will journey on foot across the nation to collect funds to aid the cause of the former President’s Secretary and the former Director of the TRC. 

Meanwhile, MP Nalin Bandara stated that Buddhist clergy should not participate in a movement dedicated to raise funds for two criminals and that the chief Mahanayake’s should take stern action against monks collecting funds.
