The Cabinet of Ministers has decided to appoint a Board of Inquiry comprised of technical experts to identify the responsible officers for the recent fuel crisis.
This had been recommended in the report of the cabinet sub-committee appointed to review on the petrol shortage which had prevailed in the country within the first week of November.
The report was submitted to the President yesterday (14) by the Chairman of the committee, Special Assignment Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama.
“The report has identified the cause for the crisis as defects in Fuel Stock Management and has recommended appointing a Board of Inquiry with the participation of officials with specialized technical knowledge to identify the responsible officers.”
It also includes recommendations to prevent such a situation in the future, the cabinet spokesman said today. The Cabinet of Ministers has decided to act according to recommendations of this report.
