The renovation of the Pettah Central Bus Stand commenced yesterday (15) under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. Built in 1964, the bus stand is set to undergo a complete renovation for the first time in six decades at an estimated cost of Rs. 424 million, with plans including new restrooms, information and communication centers, and other modern facilities. Meanwhile, the renovation of the Maradana Railway Station was also launched under the government’s “Clean Sri Lanka” and “Dream Destination” initiatives, as part of the broader plan titled “A Thriving Nation – A Beautiful Life,” which aims to establish a modern, and standardized public transport system by improving facilities at railway stations and transforming them into safe, and clean spaces.
