President informs Ranil Wickremesinghe he has been removed as PM

In a letter sent through the Presidential Secretary, President Maithripala Sirisena has unformed Ranil Wickremesinghe that he has been removed from the position of Prime Minister with immediate effect.

 

In his letter, which is dated today (26) and is addressed to Ranil Wickremesinghe, the President states that Ranil Wickremesinghe has been removed as Prime Minister as per the powers vented in him.

 

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was appointed as the Prime Minister of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and was sworn in before President Maithripala Sirisena today (26) at the Presidential Secretariat.
