Thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at several places in Uva, Central, Sabaragamuwa, North-central and North-western provinces and in Ampara, Mannar and Vavuniya districts.

Issuing an advisory, the Department of Meteorology said fairly heavy showers above 100 mm are expected in some places in the above areas.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.

The Meteorology Department requests the public to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
