Met. Dept. warns of thundershowers, severe lightning

Thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at several places on the island, the Department of Meteorology has warned.

Heavy showers above 100 mm can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-western and Southern provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Badulla and Monaragala districts.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.

The public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
