Bogambara prison escape: One inmate shot dead, three arrested

Five inmates who were under quarantine at the Old Bogambara Prison have made an attempt to escape on Tuesday night (17), Commissioner-General of Prison Thushara Upuldeniya said.

According to reports, one of them was shot dead when the prison authorities opened fire at the fleeing inmates and three of them have been taken into custody.

The remaining inmate has managed to escape and a search operation has been launched to locate him.
