A 38-year-old died after being gunned down in the area of Habaraduwa at around 7.30 a.m. this morning (May 24), the police said.

Two unidentified gunmen who arrived on motorcycle had opened fire at the victim when he was coming back home in a three-wheeler with his wife, after dropping their kid off at school.

The man victim died while being rushed to the hospital. His wife, who was also injured in the shooting, is currently under medical care.

Further investigations are underway to apprehend the shooters who fled the scene after the shooting.
