One dead in fire at chemical factory in Kandana

A fire has broken out inside a chemical factory located in Kandana this morning (Aug 08), leaving one person dead.

The deceased was identified as the accountant of the factory, a 50-year-old who was residing in Ganemulla, the police said.

He had been inside the building when the erupted.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, however, Kandana Police is investigating the matter further.

Ada Derana correspondent said firefighters of the Gampaha and Kandana fire stations as well as the Sri Lanka Navy Camp in Welisara have initiated joint efforts to douse the fire.
