Matara District schools closed for two days due to bad weather

All government schools in the Matara District will be closed on 05 and 06 October, in view of the prevailing torrential rains and inclement weather conditions, Education Director of the Southern Province Ranjith Yapa confirmed.

Earlier today (04 Oct.), both Level 1 (Yellow) and Level 2 (Amber) early landslide warnings were issued by the National Building and Research Organisation (NBRO) for several areas in the Matara district.
