Evening thundershowers possible in 6 provinces including Western

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western and Uva provinces in the evening or at night, the Department of Meteorology says.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces and Galle and Matara districts during the morning.

The public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Sea areas:

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the sea areas extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle in the evening or night.

Wind will be variable and wind speed will be 15-25 kmph in the sea areas around the island

Sea areas around the island will be Slight.

Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
