A tense situation has been reported near the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo due to a protest.

The “Citizens’ Power Organization against Bribery, Corruption and Wastage” had organized a protest in front of the Presidential Secretariat this morning (15).

As the protest commenced police officers had proceeded to remove the banners, sparking heated exchanges between law enforcement officers and the protestors.

Subsequently, the protestors submitted a memorandum to the President’s Additional Secretary, Mr. Kapila Munasinghe, voicing their opposition to the decision to once again provide vehicle permits for Members of Parliament.
