Suspects arrested over brutal assault on child in Pulmudai remanded

Five persons including the 45-year-old main suspect and two women who were arrested for inhumanely assaulting a four-and-a-half-year-old child, after a video of the incident went viral on social media, have been ordered remanded. 

The Padaviya Magistrate’s Court has ordered the suspects to remanded in custody until June 19 after they were produced before the court.

Meanwhile, the assaulted child has been placed under probationary care. 

Police said suspects were arrested on the charges of aiding and abetting the assault in the Arisimale area of Pulmudai, early this morning (05).

The two women who have been remanded are aged 37 and 46.

Police said that they are residents of Welioya Kalyanapura area.
