Sri Lankans seeking employment in Israel will be recruited exclusively under government-to-government agreements from next year, according to a new policy decision by the Israeli government.
The Sri Lankan Embassy in Israel has informed the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) of the policy change.
Accordingly, the existing recruitment programme for Israeli jobs conducted through licensed foreign employment agencies will end on December 31, 2026, the SLBFE has stated.
The new policy will apply to all employment sectors, including construction, industrial, commercial and service industries.
However, official details regarding the new recruitment mechanism, the number of workers to be recruited and the selection procedures to be implemented from 2027 have not yet been announced.
Meanwhile, the SLBFE has urged job seekers not to make payments to individuals or foreign employment agencies claiming to offer employment opportunities in Israel.
The Bureau has also advised applicants not to participate in skills assessments, interviews or other selection procedures conducted by private entities until further official instructions are issued.
