Several bank accounts belonging to Rakitha Rajapaksa, son of former Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapaksa, have been suspended, and the notice regarding the suspension has been delivered to his residence, the Bribery Commission said.
It is reported that the bank accounts have been suspended under the provisions of the Proceeds of Crime Act.
This measure has been taken in connection with an ongoing investigation.
As part of the investigation, a team of officers from the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) had visited Rakitha Rajapaksa’s residence in Nawala to deliver the official notice regarding the suspension of the relevant bank accounts.
However, the Commission stated that Rakitha Rajapaksa was not at home when its officers arrived to hand over the notice.
