A total of four spill gates of the Deduru Oya Reservoir have been opened by one foot each due to the prevailing rainy weather conditions, the Irrigation Department has announced.
According to the Department, water is currently being released into the Deduru Oya at a rate of 2,800 cubic feet per second (cusecs).
Due to the increased water discharge, residents living along both banks of the river in downstream areas of the Deduru Oya Reservoir have been urged to remain vigilant and pay close attention to changes in water levels.
The Irrigation Department has advised the general public to exercise caution as water levels in the river may fluctuate.
