Underworld figure ‘Kaiwaru Muthu’ remanded

Manoj Muthukumarana, alias “Kaiwaru Muthu,” a suspected member of an organised criminal gang, has been remanded until November 19.

The order was issued after the suspect was produced before Kaduwela Magistrate Aruna Indrajith today (07).

Following his deportation from Dubai, the suspect was arrested yesterday (06) by officers of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the airport and subsequently handed over to the Western Province South Crimes Division for further investigations.

Accordingly, the division conducted investigations under a 72-hour detention order before producing him before the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court today.

The suspect is accused of committing, planning, and aiding and abetting murders. He has also been named as a suspect in several ongoing cases before the Magistrate’s Court.

Furthermore, the Navagamuwa Police reportedly filed several additional charges against the suspect today.
