I wasn’t drunk - Vijitha Herath

JVP Propaganda Secretary Vijitha Herath has denied allegation that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time he met with an accident in Rajagiriya Monday evening.


The observation was made while responding to media personnel releasing a voice statement today.


He also pointed out a report issued by a Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) has also clarified this fact.


“The police have also not charged me for drunk driving,” he added.


According to Herath, he has lost control of the vehicle and collided with a telephone pole as he was trying to save a pedestrian who crossed the road unexpectedly. 


Herath has been granted police bail initially however he will be ordered to appear before a court as well, police said.
