Police fire tear gas at three-wheeler drivers blocking road

Police used tear gas to disperse a group of three-wheeler drivers blocking the railway crossing at Galkanda on the Colombo-Negombo main road.

The three-wheeler drivers were protesting against the government’s decision to increase the fine on traffic law violations.
 
Heavy traffic congestion has been reported from the adjoining areas throughout the day, due to the blockage by the protestors. 

Police later obtained a court order to remove any protesters blocking the Colombo-Chilaw main road.
